The fi-8170 Deluxe Bundle pairs the fi-8170 scanner with PaperStream Capture Pro software, so one purchase covers both the machine and the capture layer in front of it.
Both the PFU Ricoh Store and Lenovo list this Ricoh package, and the datasheet linked from the store page is the quickest way to cross-check specifications before ordering. The software side handles data extraction, indexing, and workflow automation, with OCR results improving once scans have been cleaned up.
On the machine, a 100-page automatic document feeder takes mixed stacks, and double-sided scanning pairs with Ultrasonic Multi-feed Detection so every image fed through gets captured. A color LCD panel on the front handles day-to-day operation.
Thick items fit too: the scanner takes hard cards up to 1.4 mm, including passports, IDs, and embossed cards. The in-box software covers capture, imaging, and administration tools, and fi Series Online Update ships with that same package.
What Does PaperStream Capture Pro Add to the fi-8170 Bundle?
PaperStream Capture Pro adds the software layer that turns raw scans from the fi-8170 into organized, release-ready records, and the bundle includes a 2 Year Subscription to it.
Buyers in modern workplaces tend to weigh a subscription against the rework it removes, and the store page presents the bundle as free of hidden costs. Cleaner scans also give later steps a better chance at accuracy, which is an observation from typical office workflows rather than a measured result.
Inside the box, PaperStream Capture is listed alongside PaperStream ClickScan, PaperStream NX Manager, and Scanner Central Admin with its SOP and ERG documents. The driver list also names TWAIN64.
Setup help is sold separately in three tiers:
| Option | Price | What it covers |
| Quick Start: PaperStream Capture Pro Software Installation | $199.00 | Software setup only |
| Quick Start: fi-Series Scanner & PaperStream Capture Pro Software Installation | $299.00 | Scanner and software together |
| PaperStream Capture Pro Installation & Training | $499.00 | Setup plus training, per its name |
Choosing between them mostly depends on who will configure the software. A team without prior experience may find the tier that adds training worth the price gap, though that is a judgment call, not a vendor claim.
What Hardware Features Does the fi-8170 Scanner Offer?
The fi-8170 is a color duplex document scanner rated at up to 70 ppm that is small enough to fit on any desk.
Its compact footprint suits shared desks, but speed is what counts in high-volume work, where small delays multiply across a day’s batches.
Connection options are the part buyers check first, and the listing names three parallel ones:
- USB 3.2 for a wired connection
- Ethernet connectivity for wired network use
- TWAIN and ISIS for driver compatibility
Lenovo’s listing names skew correction among the scanner’s advanced features, while PaperStream IP applies image enhancement during and after scanning. PaperStream Capture Pro also imports electronic images, so front-end capture can cover files that never passed through the feeder.
What Support, Protection, and Related Services Fit the fi-8170 Bundle?
The fi-8170 Deluxe Bundle includes a 1-Year Advance Exchange Warranty, and its Intelligent Paper Protection with Image Monitoring is built to prevent paper jams before they stop a batch.
Store copy describes the package as best-in-class hardware paired with software, and Lenovo frames it as a complete document capture solution. Both are vendor descriptions, so judge reliability by the warranty terms and by how often feed errors interrupt your own batches.
Lenovo also describes AI-powered, scalable data capture with hand-printed text recognition, document classification, and real-time quality control. Teams sharing scanners can look at multi-station licensing, and the user-friendly interface is meant to keep operation simple from start to finish.
What Are the Price and Part Number of the fi-8170 Deluxe Bundle?
The fi-8170 Deluxe Bundle is listed at $1,662.00 under part number CG01000-310299 on the PFU Ricoh Store, and Lenovo’s page data shows the same list figure.
| Seller | Price (USD) | Part or product code |
| PFU Ricoh Store | $1,662.00 | CG01000-310299 |
| Lenovo | $1,662.00 list, $1,376 with promotion | 78819680 |
Calling it a bestseller is the store’s own wording, not an independent ranking. The bundled software also releases images and metadata into your cloud or on-premise database, which matters when the price is weighed against what it saves downstream.
A one-year protection plan with maintenance replacement parts is listed separately at $109.00, and adding it to the total makes sense if downtime would be costly.
